Re Al Martinez’s column about Santa Monica, Feb. 2:
Noise is indeed the problem on the Third Street Promenade. Everything else sorts itself out.
Henna tattoos are quiet, space economical, artistic, risque but not permanent, religiously symbolic for some and nontoxic. If the city fathers want to start cutting destructiveness on Third Street, let them start with the amount of throwaway food utensils used in those four blocks.
Meantime, I thank Martinez for reminding us how swiftly has swung the pendulum of history in our city--from the Soviet Republic of Santa Monica to, in the same spirit, First Santa Monica Reich.
