Wood Has 5 RBIs, Saddleback Wins

Patrick Wood had five RBIs, including a home run, to help Saddleback to a 13-5 victory over Imperial Valley in nonconference baseball Wednesday at Saddleback.
The Gauchos scored eight runs in the second inning. Jason Marion went four for four with two RBIs for Saddleback (13-2).
In other nonconference games:
Cerritos 2, Santa Ana 1--Gabe Alvarez drove in John Weller on a squeeze play in the eighth inning for the winning run. Falcon pitcher Benny Gonzalez gave up five hits and struck out eight.
Mt. San Antonio 9, Golden West 4--Mt. San Antonio scored five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take the lead. Reuben Gulledge hit his sixth home run for the Rustlers, who drop to 10-4.
In nonconference men’s golf:
Santa Ana 382, Cerritos 394--Medalist Dave Lauder shot two-over-par 74 at Los Serranos for Santa Ana. Teammate Mark Hewlette was a stroke back.
In nonconference softball:
Saddleback 8, Ventura 0 (5, mercy rule)--Saddleback’s Jennifer Carlisle hit two home runs, going two for two with three runs scored. Gaucho pitcher Tara Kroener gave up two hits and struck out nine.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, San Diego Mesa 0--Scott Ogilvie led Golden West (9-2, 3-0) with 11 kills in the 15-0, 15-9, 15-9 victory.
