Despite the outcry from a large group of Lantern Village property owners and residents, who want a third code enforcement officer in their district, the City Council instead voted Tuesday to add a part-time secretary and six-tenths of a community services officer position.
Council members Harold R. Kaufman and Wayne Rayfield attempted to get both a full-time secretary to do paperwork and a full-time code enforcement officer who would be a city employee. A community services officer position is contracted through the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. But Kaufman’s motion died, to the dismay of many in the audience.
