Heavy Fog Causes Delays, Cancellations at Airport

Heavy fog, which cut visibility to less than a quarter-mile, delayed flights at Burbank Airport throughout the morning Monday and caused a handful of cancellations.
No flights were allowed in or out for two hours after the airport opened at 7 a.m., airport authorities said.
Flights began to come in about 9 a.m. but the fog rolled back in, causing another round of delays, they said.
Southwest Airlines, which handles 60% of all flights at the airport, canceled four flights and delayed about a dozen others, before returning to a normal schedule about 10 a.m., said Southwest spokeswoman Sonya O’Neill.
