The Dixie Chicks have two new tracks--”Ready to Roam” and a version of the Supremes’ “You Can’t Hurry Love”--on the soundtrack of the Julia Roberts-Richard Gere movie “Runaway Bride,” joined by a new Eric Clapton ballad (“Blue Eyes Blue”) and new recordings by Shawn Colvin, Billy Joel, Marc Anthony, Hall & Oates and Martina McBride. The album is due July 27. . . .
Having sold 5 million copies of its 1996 debut album in the U.S., Australian duo Savage Garden is working on the follow-up in producer Walter Afanasieff’s San Francisco studio. The new one is due in late October. . . .
The complete catalog of the late Nigerian music great Fela Anikulapo Kuti will be reissued for the first time in the U.S. by MCA, starting with a two-CD anthology in October. MCA will also release an album by his son, Femi Anikulapo Kuti, who will be at the House of Blues Sept. 10.
