E.C. Archibeque will host an evening of the spoken word and music tonight at Exile Books & Music, 14925 Magnolia Blvd., Sherman Oaks. Along with Michelle Ben-Hur, Archibeque co-edits and publishes her own poetry anthology. Tonight, poets Rick Lupert and Pam Ward will also be featured, along with a surprise musical guest. Saturday night, singer-songwriter Paul Sprawl and the acoustic rock band Clear will perform. It’s an 8 p.m. show time and $5 cover both nights. Plesant Gehman, editor of the “Underground Guide to Los Angeles,” and some contributors to the guide will be on hand to read and sign the book at 3 p.m. Sunday. Also, the store has Elena the Tarot Lady plying her trade Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. The Sunday Open Mike is for performers with original material. Author Jeff Young will sign and discuss his book, “Kazan--The Master Director Discusses His Films: Interviews With Elia Kazan,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble, 731 N. Young has compiled a collection of interviews in which the famed director comments on 18 of his 19 films and also discusses his controversial decision to testify before the House Committee on Un-American Activities in the 1950s.
