Rockers Sizzle in First Road Victory

The Cleveland Rockers shot a WNBA-record 63.2% in winning on the road for the first time this season Wednesday with an 85-68 victory over the Washington Mystics before a crowd of 20,674.

Eva Nemcova scored 19 points for Cleveland and Chamique Holdsclaw scored 23 points for the Mystics.

Cleveland had lost all of its previous eight road games this year. The Rockers are 6-0 all-time against Washington.

Both teams are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, with Cleveland (5-14) trailing Washington (5-13) by half a game.

Minnesota 76, Charlotte 67--Brandy Reed scored 26 points, 11 during a decisive 25-10 second-half run, and Tonya Edwards added 21 as the Lynx (10-6) beat the Sting (8-9) before 4,665 at Charlotte, N.C.

Rhonda Mapp had 22 points and nine rebounds for Charlotte.

Detroit 86, Utah 77--Rookie Dominique Canty scored eight of her 13 points in a 15-1 run late in the second half at Auburn Hills, Mich., as the Shock (9-8) won its fourth in a row.

The loss, before 11,253, was the sixth in a row for Utah (6-11).

Cindy Brown led Detroit with 18 points. Margo Dydek had 22 points for Utah.
