Body Odors

The Times’ July 14 article about men emitting distasteful odors does not solve the problem, nor is it completely fair, since women can be equally guilty.

As a dermatologist, I recommend to both sexes that they wash with ordinary dishwashing detergent, or use hair shampoo under the arms, between the legs and the toes.

Antiperspirants and soap do not remove bacteria, which is the cause of body odor. Hair shampoo and liquid detergent emulsify oils and are therefore more antimicrobial.
