Kirov Vacuum

I am gnashing my teeth, green with envy, after reading Lewis Segal’s reviews and articles on the Kirov Ballet in New York (July 4-9).
Where is the leadership at the Music Center that should be scheduling this kind of ballet for Los Angeles? Why is there no one at the Music Center who even knows or cares about these missed opportunities? How difficult would it have been to bring the Kirov Ballet here from New York?
Is Los Angeles forever to be a cultural backwater when it comes to ballet? Must we always take ourselves and our dollars to Orange County, San Francisco and New York to see ballet? Are we condemned to an endless future of “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Dracula”? I am truly depressed!
