Softball/Pitcher
Pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 in a 5-0 victory over Lakewood in the second round, then bettered that performance in the quarterfinals with a 13-inning no-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Moreno Valley Canyon Springs. King (12-4) struck out 24 batters, breaking the school record of 22 set by Rae Rice in 1991. King also scored the winning run for the Barons.

Augie Escobar

Track
Became the first county runner since 1985 to run under nine minutes in the 3,200 meters when he won the event at the Masters Meet in a nation-leading 8:56.23. The time was also the best in the county since 1981, and bettered Escobar’s school record, which he had set the week before at the divisional finals.
