Darlyne Songer; 35-Year County Resident

Darlyne May Songer, a 35-year Ventura County resident, died at her home Saturday. She was 71.
Songer, born in Monterey Park on March 27, 1928, graduated from Carpinteria High School in 1946.
Since 1980, Songer was a member of the Ladies Missionary Fellowship at Wells Road Baptist Church, where her son Kent Williams is pastor.
Williams said his mother, a member of the Ventura Bird Club, was always rescuing pet birds that were crippled or unwanted.
Songer was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Songer, and son Mark Brady Williams.
In addition to son Kent Williams, Songer is survived by another son, Norman Williams of Fresno; a daughter, Cynthia Covarrubias of Carpinteria, and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Services will be at noon Friday at Wells Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.
