A man suspected of raping, beating and robbing a woman in her Santa Ana home three months ago has been arrested, police said Tuesday.
Tony Zubia of Santa Ana was arrested last week by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and has been returned to Orange County to face charges of attempted murder, rape, robbery, sodomy and burglary, the Santa Ana Police Department announced. He is being held in Orange County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Two suspected accomplices--girls 15 and 17 years old--were arrested in March.
Zubia, 35, is believed to have entered the home of the 80-year-old woman, who lived alone, through a closed bedroom window about 1 a.m. and to have attacked her while the two accomplices ransacked the premises and took property including a computer, television, VCR and jewelry.
The teens were found in Westminster a few days after the March 10 incident with some of the stolen property in their possession.
