Calvary Chapel’s matchup against L.A. Baptist will be the featured baseball game Friday at Blair Field in Long Beach, and El Dorado and Corona del Mar will represent Orange County Saturday at Edison Field when the Southern Section championship games are played this weekend.
The section office Wednesday announced the dates and times for baseball and softball title games.
An all-Orange county matchup in softball, top-seeded Pacifica (23-8) against unseeded Brea Olinda (22-7-1), highlights Friday softball at 7:30 p.m. at Mayfair Park in Lakewood. Pacifica is trying to win its third Division III title in a row.
Mater Dei (28-4), vying for its third Division I title in four years, will play Moreno Valley Valley View (28-2) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Calvary Chapel (16-7) will try to win its third consecutive section title at 10 a.m. Saturday against Pomona Catholic (18-9) in Division V.
Calvary Chapel’s baseball team, 26-1-1 and seeded No. 1 in Division V, plays Los Angeles Baptist (18-6) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Blair Field.
There will be four games Saturday at Edison Field, beginning with fourth-seeded Corona del Mar (19-8) playing third-seeded El Segundo (25-6) for the Division IV title at 10 a.m. The Sea Kings last won a title in 1981.
That contest will be followed by Division III’s top-seeded team, El Dorado (25-5) facing Hemet (24-5-1) at 1 p.m.
Tickets at all venues are $7 for adults, except for Saturday softball, which is $8. Children and student tickets, with identification, are $3, but reduced-priced student tickets are available only through advance sales at the school site.
