LOS ANGELES — Two 747 jumbo jets clipped wings on a runway at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday night, prompting the evacuation of more than 700 passengers. No injuries were reported, authorities said.
Philippine Airlines Flight 103, bound for Manila, was headed to a runway near the Tom Bradley International Terminal when it clipped wings with Corsair Flight 942, which was being towed to a gate after arriving from Paris.
The collision severely damaged the wing of the Corsair jet and punctured its fuel tank, but no fuel spilled. There was minor damage to the wing of the other jet.
