Howard Rosenberg proves that he is faster with words than with thought (“In Search of Prestige With ‘Rand,’ ‘Wind,’ ” May 28).
Rather than researching his topic, Rosenberg glibly accepts the misanthropic view of Ayn Rand as dramatized in the tawdry soap opera “Passion of Ayn Rand.” This view of Rand is one totally rejected by those who knew her and who are still in agreement with her philosophy.
If Rosenberg and his readers want to view the real Ayn Rand, they should read “Atlas Shrugged” or watch the Academy Award-nominated “Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life.” They will discover the lady who fled the Soviet Union with $50 in her pocket and who heroically struggled against poverty and an often hostile culture to create great romantic, man-worshiping literature and a philosophy for living a happy life on Earth that has improved the lives of millions.
