Four Ventura County business and community leaders have been elected to the board of directors of Oxnard-based City Impact, a nonprofit organization that provides mentorships and counseling to local youths and their families.
Joining the board are Oxnard College President Steven Arvizu, Ojai City Councilman Joe DeVito, rancher Carolyn Leavens and Public Defender Gary Windom.
All the new appointees are active on other Ventura County boards and in local charities.
“With the caliber of people who now [compose] City Impact’s board of directors, our organization will be even more effective in helping young people and their families overcome the obstacles to obtaining a quality education and lifestyle,” said Sylvia Munoz Schnopp, chairwoman of City Impact.
