HOLLYWOOD — A taxi driver was shot and killed in Hollywood on Monday morning by a woman who had chased him down in a car, authorities said. Police are investigating if the killing involved a robbery or might have been the result of a personal vendetta.
Gerardo Torres Jimenez, 26, an independent cabdriver from Los Angeles, was driving on Hillcrest Avenue about 12:45 a.m. when the driver of a maroon Honda began following him, Los Angeles police said. Jimenez took evasive action and ran into some parked cars, said Officer Guillermo Campos.
A Latino woman--about 5-feet-4, 130 pounds, with short hair and tattoos--got out of the Honda and shot Jimenez in the head, then drove away and remains at large, police said.
Jimenez was found sprawled on the ground and died later in the morning at a local hospital.
