India Says It Ousted Rebels From Outpost

Indian soldiers cleared Islamic guerrillas from another mountain outpost, a day after driving troops from the highest peak overlooking its northern highway in Kashmir, a spokesman said. The soldiers overran and destroyed two bunkers on Point 5203, killing at least 10 guerrillas on the strategic peak, said Col. Bikram Singh, the military spokesman in New Delhi. India has reported slow but steady progress in pushing back the fighters, who it says infiltrated from Pakistan and seized new territory in an attempt to change the 1972 cease-fire line that divides the Himalayan region between Pakistan and India.
