Diana Vo and Eric Espino, eighth-graders at Doig Intermediate School, are among 150 incoming freshmen and sophomores from Orange and Los Angeles County high schools accepted to a weeklong study group at Santiago High School. Both students will attend the Irvine campus in the fall. Sponsored by UC Irvine’s Early Academic Outreach Program, next week’s session is intended to familiarize promising students with the rigors of UC admissions standards and the demands of college academics. Under the supervision of UCI instructors, the students attend PSAT and SAT preparation courses and writing classes and are paired with UCI graduate students with similar academic and career interests.
