The City Council tonight will consider officially appointing Cheryl D. Cordova as city clerk. The city hired Cordova as deputy city clerk in November, suggesting then that it would promote her to clerk later. Cordova served as Stanton’s city clerk for 12 years. Los Alamitos’ former city clerk, Donna Velin, left in July 1998. The council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 3191 Katella Ave.
