ONTARIO — Police arrested a 26-year-old Los Angeles man on suspicion of fatally shooting two companions in a moving pickup truck, which smashed into a house early Tuesday.
Gilbert Rosales Jr. was booked at West Valley Detention Center on two counts of murder and one count of possession of cocaine, said Ontario Police Department Det. Mike Macias.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, police received a call that a pickup truck had struck a house in the 2000 block of South Plum Avenue, police said.
Inside were the bodies of Cesar E. Mendez, 20, of Ontario and another man whose name has not been released.
As officers arrived, witnesses pointed to Rosales, who was walking away, police said. One of the officers followed him around the corner of Cedar Street and Plum Avenue but lost him.
Police dogs searched for three hours before a neighbor two blocks from the accident called police to tell them that a man was lying in the back of his pickup truck. Witnesses identified him as Rosales, police said.
