Nokia Debuts Wireless Networking Line

Nokia made public a series of products for wireless computer networking that the wireless phone giant hopes will be the foundation for a new line of products. The products--wall-mounted wireless local-area networking devices, wireless access cards for portable computers and companion security and virtual private networking systems--represent Nokia’s first move into a field that has thus far been left to network-equipment makers. Nokia said its wireless system would deliver data at speeds of 1 megabit per second and could eventually be available in offices as well as airports, hotels and other areas frequented by travelers in need high-speed access.
