Lancaster Overpowers High Desert

Shawn McCorkle hit a home run and added a two-run double to power the Lancaster JetHawks to a 12-6 California League victory over the High Desert Mavericks (15-25) on Thursday night at the Hangar.
Greg Connors and Craig Kuzmic each had two hits for the JetHawks (15-25).

Newy Scruggs and Dave Denholm of XTRA Sports 1150 radio team will broadcast live from 3-5:30 p.m. today at the Hangar. Fans can join the “Dawg Pound” for the broadcast and have chances to win prizes that include batting practice before the game or to be bat person during the game. Class A--Left fielder Mike Glendenning (Crespi, Pierce) hit a double and his 11th home run for San Jose (Giants). Glendenning is tied with Todd Mensik of Visalia for the California League lead in home runs. . . . Modesto (Athletics) catcher Brian Luderer (Crespi) had three hits, including his first home run, and right-hander Wayne Nix (Monroe) allowed five hits and two runs over five innings.
