2 Killed Changing Tire on Long Beach Freeway

Two women were killed and a third seriously injured Sunday night when they were struck by oncoming traffic as they tried to change a tire on their van on the northbound Long Beach Freeway near Anaheim Street.
Long Beach police said the women, described only as in their 20s, had stopped between two flows of merging traffic--one from downtown Long Beach and one from the Long Beach harbor area--when they were struck by two cars at about 7:45 p.m.
