Nine people complained they became ill Friday after being exposed to a chemical smell at a thrift-store warehouse, authorities said.
The nine complained of shortness of breath and throat irritations when a bag of soiled clothes was opened at 8:37 a.m. at the Salvation Army warehouse at 21381 Roscoe Blvd., said Bob Collis, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
An unidentified woman was transported to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Firefighters, who treated the others at the warehouse, were unable to determine the cause of the smell, Collis said.
