The City Council voted unanimously this week to install traffic signal cameras at six major intersections.
There will be surveillance cameras at Del Obispo at Ortega Highway, Del Obispo at Camino Capistrano, Del Obispo at Del Avion, Camino Capistrano at San Juan Creek Road, Camino Capistrano at Stonehill Drive, and Ortega Highway at Rancho Viejo Road.
Traffic Safety System Inc. of Culver City will install and operate the red-light enforcement cameras for the city at no upfront cost on a six-month trial period.
After the trial period, the project is expected to generate $1.2 million in annual revenue for the city, officials said, creating a net gain of $446,672 after all expenses if 100% of the violations are enforced.
