Norris Is Short but He Can Go Long

It’s easy to overlook James Norris of Kennedy High.
For one thing, he’s only 5-7, 145 pounds.
For another, he speaks barely above a whisper.
But his contributions on the field are enormous. And few make as much noise with the football than the junior wide receiver.
Norris has scored 14 touchdowns and three two-point conversions for 90 points, the most of any receiver in the region. He has 42 receptions for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns, has scored two touchdowns on kick returns and one on a reverse.
“He’s going to be a big-time prospect,” said Fred Grimes, Kennedy’s offensive coordinator. “Norris hardly talks, but what an athlete. When he touches the ball, its electric.”
Norris’ brother, Waking Bailey, was an All-City Section receiver and defensive back now playing at San Jose State.
“Like Waking, James has a knack for making big plays,” said Coach Bob Francola of Kennedy. “Every time he touches the football, he’s dangerous.”
