The Anaheim School District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for a construction project that will more than double the capacity of Betsy Ross Elementary School 3. The Betsy Ross expansion is the first of many projects planned for overcrowded Anaheim elementary schools.
To meet state regulations on class size, the district’s elementary schools must run on a staggered schedule, with half the students attending school in the mornings and the other half in the afternoons. Lettie Boggs, assistant superintendent of facilities, said that plans include the remodeling and building of 22 schools over a period of six to eight years at a cost of approximately $189 million.
