Hollywood Perpetuates Weak-Female Myth

Regardless of all the advances and achievements women have contributed to society (“There Is Nothing Like a Dame,” Aug. 23), men still prefer a pliable woman to mold, one devoid of any opinion or accomplishment, other than to be a decoration. As long as Hollywood is governed predominantly by males (directors, writers, executives), we will continue to see their preferred vision of females: wimpettes and ditsy girls who can’t make decisions about their lives until the male rescuer comes to make it all better for them.
