The winning streak of Jessie Pacheco, 12, national Silver Gloves champion for her age group, continued this past weekend at the Blue and Gold national championships in Norwalk. Pacheco defeated opponents Friday, Saturday and Sunday, becoming the first girl to win the Blue and Gold title formerly reserved for boys. Last month, along with Pacheco, Anahi Gutierez, 14, and Ismael Rosas, 16, also won Silver Gloves titles. “If you looked at them, you’d never know they could do it,” commented their coach, Ed Kostiuk, from the Downtown Youth Center.
