Volunteer Festival Scheduled at College

The city of Los Angeles will hold its second annual Volunteer Festival on Sunday at Valley College.
Representatives from a variety of local organizations will attend the event designed to connect youth and adults with volunteer opportunities throughout the city.
The event will also feature entertainment, food and interactive exhibits, and representatives from various nonprofit organizations, schools and city departments will also be on hand to answer questions.
The festival is being coordinated by Mayor Richard Riordan’s Volunteer Bureau, which was created in 1995 to maximize volunteers throughout the city.
According to bureau records, 30,000 Los Angeles residents donated their time and talent to several departments last year, helping save taxpayers more than $45 million.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5800 Fulton Ave.
