Produce Picker Stabbed in Field

OXNARD — A produce picker working in a field in east Oxnard was stabbed in the chest Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The unidentified victim was in critical condition and in surgery late Saturday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, according to authorities.
The stabbing occurred about 3:30 p.m. near Etting Road and the Pacific Coast Freeway, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Lee Wilcox. Detectives were questioning another laborer who works in the area but had not arrested him, Wilcox said.
“Nobody saw this and we don’t have a lot of information yet,” Wilcox said.
