Boxing Comes Back to Pond

Boxing returns to the Arrowhead Pond tonight with a 10-round main event between Pedro Ortega of Tijuana and Patrick Coleman of San Diego.
The six-bout card is the first event staged at the Pond by Irvine Marriott promoter Roy Englebrecht. Forum Boxing’s four-year promotional contract with the Pond ended in November.
Ortega, the World Boxing Assn. North American middleweight champion, is 28-6 with 18 knockouts. Ortega took the WBA title in December with a 12-round decision over Larry Dixon of San Diego. Coleman (27-5, 19 knockouts), a former top-10 fighter, won the North American Boxing Federation title in 1996, but the decision was later overturned when Coleman tested positive for drugs.
In the six-round semi-main event, North American Boxing Federation flyweight champion Pedro Pena (16-1, eight knockouts) faces Porfilio Torres (7-5-5, five knockouts) of San Fernando.
The featured undercard fighter is Bridget “Baby Doll” Riley (10-2, five knockouts), a five-time world kickboxing champion and a Hollywood stuntwoman. Riley will fight Del Pettis (5-5) of San Diego in a six-round bantamweight bout.
Tickets for the 7:30 show are $15, $25, $40, $50, $70, $80, $90 and $110.
