Passover Activities Begin Wednesday

Passover, an eight-day commemoration of the deliverance of ancient Hebrews from slavery in Egypt, begins Wednesday evening in homes and community centers across Orange County. Holy week activities include the following:
* Temple Isaiah of Newport Beach will have its 26th annual Community Passover Seder at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rabbi Marc Rubenstein, the new spiritual leader, will officiate. Cost is $30 for members, $15 for children of members, $35 for others ($17.50 for their children.) The temple is at 2401 Irvine Ave., Newport Beach. (949) 548-6900.
* Am Or Olam, a new congregation based on the Jewish renewal philosophy, will host a community Seder, led by rabbi Moshe Halfon, for the second night of Passover from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Seal Beach Church of Religious Science. * Rabbi Allen Krause and Cantor Shula Kalir Merton, ritual committee for Temple Beth El of South Orange County, will host a community Passover Seder from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Mission Viejo Country Club, 26200 Country Club Drive, Mission Viejo. * Missionary Mark Oshman will explain how the Messiah is presented through the ceremony of the Jewish Passover Dinner at 6 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Baptist Church. * Temple Beth Emet will host a Passover Seder at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the first night of Passover. Services will take place at 6:15 p.m. in the sanctuary. Cost is $36 for adults and $15 for children under 12. The Temple is at 1770 W. Cerritos Ave., Anaheim. (714) 772-4720.
* Congregation Or Ami will host a second night Passover Seder at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $18 for members and $9 for children (age 5-13) of members. Others pay $22 ($12 for children). The temple is at 30 Hughes, Suite 200, Irvine. (949) 660-1180.
* Temple Beth Ohr will host a Seder on Thursday. Reservations are required. The temple is at 15721 Rosecrans Ave., La Mirada. (714) 521-6765.
* The Chabad Chai Center will offer the following Passover services: 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, the first day of Passover; at 10 a.m. Friday, the second day of Passover, at 6:30 p.m. April 25; at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. April 26; and at 10 and 11 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. April 27. * Temple Aviv Judea Messianic Synagogue will host its annual Passover Seder at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Benny’s Place restaurant, 7402 Edinger Ave, Huntington Beach. Tickets are $25.
