‘Carroll’ Confusion
After reading David Gritten’s interview with Peter Yates (“Taking a Classic Turn,” April 2), I was a bit puzzled by his statement, “I saw John Lithgow for the lead role in ‘The House on Carroll Street’ . . . but I went with William Hurt.” I don’t know what “House on Carroll Street” Yates thinks he directed, but the one I saw (and the only film ever made by that title, I believe) starred Jeff Daniels.
Don’t feel too bad about it, Mr. Yates: 18 years in Los Angeles will do that sort of thing to the human brain.
