Axed ‘Boy Meets World’ Gets May 5 Finale
ABC has canceled “Boy Meets World,” which will end its seven-year run on the network with a one-hour series finale that will air May 5.
The move has been expected since the network announced another component of its teen-oriented “TGIF” Friday comedy lineup, “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” will shift to the WB network in the fall. ABC hasn’t disclosed what will replace the “TGIF” block, a staple of the network’s schedule since 1989.
Viewing of the entire night has been down this season, with “Boy Meets World,” which stars Ben Savage, averaging an estimated 8.8 million viewers. The finale will incorporate clips from earlier episodes. “Sabrina” will also air its final new episode that night, appropriately titled “The End of an Era.”
