Would They Choke Back Tears if Knight Retired?

I don’t know what the big fuss is about the incident with Coach Bob Knight and Neil Reed. I can think of two very logical explanations. The General was either checking the kid’s carotid pulse to make sure he wasn’t overexerting himself during practice, or checking the player’s neck size because he wanted to buy him a shirt for Christmas.
I think it’s time for Knight to hang up his red sweater (which last fit in 1979), trim his eyebrows and disappear into the Indiana sunset. The legacy that Knight is going to leave is not three national championships but his abuse of players, a la Woody Hayes.
