CAO Powers

Re “Long Urges Expanding Powers of County CAO,” April 18.
I am appalled by Supervisor John Flynn’s juvenile behavior to threaten Supervisor Kathy Long with election meddling should she not let him stand in the spotlight!
It was Long who brought the exemplary Harry Hufford to the attention of our county, and it is only logical that she would support his recommendations to strengthen the position of chief administrative officer. After all, the goal is not to place a crown on Flynn’s head but to shape Ventura County’s leadership into a cooperative group.
It certainly appears that Flynn is more concerned with being the center of attention than with the progress of our county. His behavior only reaffirms why we need a strong CAO and highlights the integrity of Supervisor Long in her efforts to bring it about.
