Forward Glen Rice, who has several connections to the controversy, spent hours Saturday marching in Westwood as part of the protest over the Elian Gonzalez situation.
“For one thing, my wife is Cuban,” he said after making seven of 12 shots and scoring 18 points Sunday. “I’m going to support her. And also, being a parent and seeing Elian get snatched out of there, that’s not something you want to see happen to anyone’s child.
“I was out there a few hours. But if that’s what it takes.”
Rice, who has three children, spent the first six years of his NBA career in Miami.
