The Orange County Health Care Agency reopened Woods Cove Beach on Thursday, closed since a 5,000-gallon sewage spill contaminated the ocean last weekend.
The spill, which occurred at 10:25 a.m. Nov. 24 when a sewer line ruptured because it was blocked with roots, closed the beach from Center Street to Rockledge Road. Officials determined that the water met health standards Thursday and opened the beach.
The agency still has high-bacteria warning signs posted in Laguna Beach from the lifeguard headquarters on Main Beach to 500 feet south of Hotel Laguna and 300 feet of the north end of Three Arch Bay. Information: (714) 667-3600.
