Moviegoers Get Chance to Play Catch-Up

With both “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Unbreakable” holding strongly after Thanksgiving, attendance was up more than 15% from last year at this time. The post-holiday period was significant in that not a single new wide release debuted, giving audiences a chance to catch up on films already playing.
And as if to prove that Beatlemania continues into the new millennium, Miramax re-released Richard Lester’s 1964 film “A Hard Day’s Night” starring the Fab Four. Opening weekend was an impressive $50,445 in just two theaters in New York and Los Angeles.
