Jack Bowman has resigned as football coach at Canyon High, ending two disappointing seasons in which the Cowboys were a combined 8-14.
Bowman informed his players of the decision during a team meeting on Monday, sources said.
Bowman, whose teams were 36-26-2 from 1991-96 at Foothill League rival Saugus, coached Canyon to a 4-6 mark this season, in which the Cowboys failed to reach the playoffs.

Hart won a coin flip on Sunday and will host its Southern Section Division III final on Friday against Mira Costa at College of the Canyons.
The Indians, who haven’t lost a home game since 1997, are seeking their third consecutive division title.
They defeated St. Paul in the 1998 final and Valencia last season. Both games were at Canyons.

Hart lineman Evan Allen put in one of the most dominant defensive performances of the season Friday in a 13-0 semifinal victory over St. Francis.
Allen sacked UCLA-bound quarterback John Sciarra four times to help hand the Golden Knights their first shutout since 1995.
“His motor was running all night,” Coach Mike Herrington said.
