U.S. Wins in Youth Water Polo

Brittany Hayes of Foothill High and Erika Figge of Santa Margarita High each scored two goals the help the U.S. A team defeat the Canada youth team, 15-2, in the opener of the NorAm youth girls’ water polo tournament Wednesday in Montreal. Gabbie Domanic of Foothill had a goal and four steals for the U.S.
Drue Wawrzynski of the Los Alamitos High scored two goals in the U.S. B team’s 10-6 loss to Canada B. The U.S. A team defeated U.S. B, 7-5, in another game Wednesday night.
In the NorAm youth boys’ tournament at the Joint Forces Training Base at Los Alamitos, the U.S. A team defeated Japan, 12-11, and U.S. B tied Canada B, 8-8. In a game Friday night, the U.S. A team defeated U.S. B, 9-8.
FOOTBALL
Johnnie Peeples, an Orange Coast College defensive back, will play at Montana next season, OCC Coach Mike Taylor said.
Peeples had 46 tackles, two fumble recoveries and broke up two passes this season.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Chelsea McCarthy, a goalkeeper at Manhattan Beach Mira Costa High, has committed to play women’s soccer at UC Irvine, said her mother Kathy Harren.
