GIRLS
Buena 2, Hart 2--Buena survived a scare when freshman Caitlin O’Neill’s goal gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 shootout victory.
It was the second championship in a week for the Bulldogs (14-1-1), who won the Buena tournament last Thursday.
Buena dominated the first half, holding the Indians (6-4-3) without a shot. Buena managed 16 shots and scored on a penalty kick by Natalie Sanderson in the 30th minute.
Hart tied the score when Ebony Lewis knocked in a corner kick from Dee Dee Sanguinetti in the 39th minute.
“I thought we were going to get killed by Buena,” Sanguinetti said. “But I think we should have won. It was nice to tie them, because they are the No. 1 seed and we get no respect.”
The Indians took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute when Megan Flaherty’s shot was mishandled by goalkeeper Amelia Waltz.
Sanderson’s second goal got Buena even.
