The Times has of course given extensive coverage to the problems computer hackers have been causing on commercial Internet Web sites, including your Feb. 12 story. It is time the hackers directed their talents where the public would appreciate them.

It costs millions of dollars when hackers get into a company and shut it down. I feel that the minimum for a hacker crime should be five years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Maybe after one conviction the copycats will stop.
