Chapman Turns Back Cal Lutheran, 2-1

Jim Harrison pitched a five-hitter on Tuesday but Cal Lutheran lost a nonconference baseball game, 2-1, at Chapman.
Harrison (1-1), who struck out seven and walked one, yielded two runs in the second inning.
The Kingsmen (3-1) took a 1-0 lead in the second when Tom Galante scored on Jeff Meyers’ sacrifice fly.
Valley 9, L.A. City 8--Jeremy Cartee’s two-run single in the seventh broke a 7-7 tie in the Western State Conference tournament at Valley (4-1). Cartee had two hits and three runs batted in.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 82, La Verne 47--Haley Jones scored 25 points and the Regals (16-6, 9-1) clinched a share of their third consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship at Cal Lutheran.
