* Mike Wagner resigned as Reseda girls’ coach, effective after the Regents’ last playoff game.
Wagner, who recently became the school’s athletic director, wants to devote full attention to that job and spend more time with his family.
“For a month now, people have been telling me you can’t do both, that it’s too hard,” Wagner said. “And you know what? They’re right.
“It had nothing to do with the girls. It was was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, was to tell them that.”
The Regents have an 11-13 record, including a 5-5 mark in Valley Mission League play. Reseda plays at North Hollywood in a first-round Invitational playoff game Friday.
Wagner, in his third year as coach, posted a record of 18-24 the past two seasons.
* Forward Tellys Knight of Oxnard College was selected men’s co-player of the week in the Western State Conference.
Guard Michelle Tompkins of Valley was selected women’s player of the week.
