Although only Seal Beach residents can vote on Measure M, many residents in Los Alamitos and Rossmoor are supporting the “Yes on M, Citizens Against Excessive Traffic” campaign with donations and volunteer support.
At the heart of the issue are 220 acres owned by the Bixby Ranch Co. at the corner of Lampson Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard. That land, currently zoned for commercial use, may be developed into a shopping center. Residents closest to the project live in Rossmoor or an area known as College Park East in Seal Beach. They are the most vocal in supporting the measure, which would change the zoning to recreational/golf. The campaign’s headquarters is across the street from the site in the Rossmoor Shopping Center, 12393 Seal Beach Blvd.
