SOCCER
Temecula Valley advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Section Division I boys’ playoffs when the section ruled a second-round game between Alta Loma and El Toro a double forfeit.
Alta Loma defeated El Toro, 2-1, Wednesday, but used a player who received two yellow cards in a victory over Arcadia in the first round.
Southern Section rules state a player who receives a red card or two yellow cards in a game is suspended for the duration of that game and for the next game.
El Toro forfeited because a coach who received a red card during the team’s first-round victory over Long Beach Millikan attended the Alta Loma game. CIF rules state a coach who is ejected from a game is disqualified from participating in the remainder of that game and the team’s next contest.
