State Labor Law Assistance

Daily overtime. Kin care. Health and safety rules. Having trouble keeping track of all the state workplace law changes that went into effect Jan. 1? The California Chamber of Commerce has compiled information that can help. Their 2000 California Labor Law Survival Kit is designed for employers trying to comply with the new state laws. It includes a 2000 labor law digest written for laypeople, as well as a monthly supplement to keep you updated on additional labor law changes. You also get 12 posters that state and federal laws require employers to display in the workplaces, all updated to reflect changes governing overtime, sick leave, Cal/OSHA, state disability insurance and more. At $189, the kit is a bit pricey. Then again, it’s a lot cheaper than the potential fines for a labor law violation. For more information, call the chamber at (800) 772-2399 or check out its Web site at https://www.calchamber.com.
